Can I put my auto top up into the top of bio chamber I’d use a 1 inch tank connector to connect it up or is it better into dirty side of drum only reason I ask which is better is coz if pumps were to fail at anytime and pond was filling would bio overflow or would it be better in dirty side of drum then if pump failed it would run down waste chute which is the best option it runs directly into pond at moment but wanting to tidy my pipework to and from purifier up in filter house and I’d use less pipe putting it into drum or bio

Dave,
I have no experience of this or your system, but I would think the logical place for an auto top up would be directly into the main pond. Then if anything anywhere on the system fails at least the koi are kept in water.

Maybe someone with a similar set up to you will give their view.

Like Tony said straight into the pond I would of thought would be better. That way if any pipe work or the pond leaked at least the fish are getting water. Think how quick the pond could empty if the leak was on the return side of the pump. I have a float switch connected to my pump so that if the pond water is low the pump switches off till the pond tops up

My auto top up is into the dirty side of ProfiDrum. It works fine. This was recommendation of supplier. I have seen this on all other installations as well.

Regards.

Thank you both for the replies I’m intending to put it directly into dirty side of drum at moment it is directly into pond but had seen on someone else’s system they had put into dirty side of drum and think this is best way coz if pumps do go off for any reason whilst topping up water would run to waste I have the sensor for my auto topup in the pond and it works well like that but I’d like my auto water feed directly into dirty side of drum coz will be much easier and a bit tidier in there thanx
