Not the sort of visitor you need around ponds Mick. Would find some kind of deterrent if you can.

Hi mick I know they are protected but I bought some biodegradable pellets for my BB gun that scare but disintegrate on contact just a thought they do work cats done like them

I've not seen any signs of one since that day, so hopefully moved on. The fish are safe under the covers for now but it's something else to keep an eye on.
My brother had an egret in his garden last week, I'd not seen any around here before but apparently their numbers are increasing.
