Ling or lingcod are a species of white fish caught on charter boats off the north east coast, in the months of august and september by cod fisherman like myself due to them residing in the same areas as cod. Not really caught or sold commercially due to them residing around sunken wrecks and rough ground, which commercial fishing boats tend to avoid due to the risk of losing equipment.
They are ugly things with big teeth, but are very good to eat (especially fried in batter!) They taste like cod but the texture is a lot more meaty.
Chris has been asking me some for a while but due to time constraints, work and having a young family I dont get out fishing as much as I used to.
