Hello this is the first time I've raised a topic so here goes. I'm fairly new to keeping koi and would like to add some variety to my kois diet. especially something that would help good growth and colour. Thanks in anticipation. TerryS

Hi Terry

Kio will eat almost anything you will put in front of them, As a treat I give them prawns and live mealworms that I tend to feed the birds (High protein food for the temps we are getting at the moment)

Regards Jim

Thanks Jimmy. Would you feed as a treat? Roughly how much to feed. I have 12 koi Ave 7" and 16 goldfish Ave 6". I'm keen to get some growth into the koi while they are still young. Pond is 2200 gal, 10000 litres.

Try SAKI HIKARI colour food and SAKI HIKARI growth foods.
Not cheap but the best foods available.

Thanks, I'll check the best price I can get. I'm currently using a feed with 37.5% protein. The koi are growing noticeably. The colour seems to be 'stretched' and I was thinking to add colour feed for 6 weeks or so in August/September. Does this make sense to you? Thanks again. Terry

Hi Terry,

Mine sometimes get mandarin segments, watermelon, mealworms, silkworm pupae, shrimp, gammarus, cabbage, apple, egg,,prawns and vitalis. Regular food is hikari wheat germ, hikari balance, hikari growth.

Colour food can sometimes make secondary hi appear though so I don't give that very often.
