At the end of April I found high levels of Costia and some Chilodonella just before going away for 10 days,so put salt in the pond (0.9%) as I wouldn't be around to monitor or re-dose "chemical" treatments. This has been gradually diluted and is now at 0.41%. In the last week I've had a few sulky fish and a few showing signs of pink on the white, plus flashing and jumping. I've scraped 5 fish and 4 of these had low levels of Costia. Small in size and v low in numbers, compared to what I had earlier this year and last year. I also found just 1 fluke and 1 Chilodonella across the 5 fish, so I don't think these are the issue. Water's almost perfect, though Nitrite has gone from 0 to 0.15 in the last week, so I've stopped feeding. Ammonia is 0, PH 7.2 and hardness 6deg, Temp 20 (unheated). Question - Should I take the salt back up to 0.9 again, while I'm at 0.41, or should I dilute and try some other treatment? 5500gal pump fed. Nexus 310 + 8' multi-bay + pond air.
Thanks Wayne. Can you advise where I can get the Acriflavin powder please, as I've only ever seen this in liquid form and the Internet isn't offering anything. Also, what strength? The Kusuri pre-mix is 1% ( other brands don't seem to quote strength), and is it a single dose? The Kusuri states 3x doses, but this is when used for bacterial issues, rather than parasites. Thanks.
