Happy New Year everyone.
I am after a bit of help ideally from a boiler plumber. Whilst it is not a boiler fix it is related to the radiator pipes feeding a zonal valve that is wired to a Temp gauge. I have wired all in and plumbed in the way i thought it should go, however my zone valve is not opening or closing and as a result the Heat exchanger does not do its job. I should note that the heat exchanger is only there to assist my ASHP heater which is working fine.
So 10 mins of someones time would be appreciated?
07950234218, Alun,
Thnaks for any help in advance.
regards

Hi Alun

We’ve been heating our main pond from the house boiler for the last 14 years. Basically it is a two zoned system using a Honywell 2 zone control board.

How it works is the stat controller [in our pump house] is wired all the way back to the house into the Honywell 2 zone control board as zone 2. The electronic gate valve is also wired into the board as zone 2 in the terminal blocks for zone 2. The house central heating zone valve is also wired into the Honywell 2 zone control board as zone 1. The boiler is also wired into the Honeywell control board same as the House Heating controls.

Based on the variable temp set at the stat controller in the pump house [the probe is in the filter], when the temp drops below the set variable, which we have set at 0.1c below our temp it talks to the boiler to open up the gate valve and sends the hot water to the HX, when the temp has been reached above the 0.1c above our set temp it closes the gate valve.

Hope this helps a bit.

Regards

Stephen

Hi Stephen,
I understand how yours works. My issue is slightly different in that i want the valve to open and shut without the connection to the boiler. effectively the heat exchnager is inline with the radiators, but i am not getting the pressure.
Need an engineer...
Thanks Stephen,
regards

Hi Alun,

Providing you have wired the zone valve up correctly from the stat it should open once the stat energises the valve.

I take it from your description that you are just using the heat exchanger as an auxiliary source of heat when the heating is on and the pond needs heat ?

Cheers
Sarg

Hi Sarg,
That is the plan mate, just some extra heat from the boiler.
But it does not seem to be working for me. Maybe the control box is not working or the layout is wrong as i tried a bypass on it.
Need a boiler man really..
Thanks
