Again I a man having to treat for flukes. They have had them more times than I can remember now over the past year. Prior to having the new pond one or two treatments used to sort it out. Since using the drum and shower system it's been a constant battle.
To try solve this issue we (when I say we I mean Pete, with a little of my help) have now moved the drum cleaning pump out of the clean side and put it in its own reservoir with auto top up and overflow.
First test it ran for a few seconds then stopped, then the overflow was needed. The pressure had blown the rubber boot off inside the drum chamber, luckily, and it was siphoning back through the pump.
After putting an extra piece of pipe on and refitting we tested again and it's all good. No leaks, no blown pipes and cleaning well. So it means fresh water is being used to clean so when I treat the pond the medication is not being instantly taken out and diluted which I think was the main problem.
So hopefully when I treat them again it will work this time! Fingers crossed!
